Baked goodness. 18 July 2011.
Urmila left for a 10-day trip to Chennai yesterday. She baked me this wonderful chocolate cake with frosting and all, so that I don’t miss her too much. :) Well I certainly hope that is the only reason and not some sly ulterior motive.
For those of you who don’t know Urmila, she’s a brilliant illustrator. You can see some of her work here. It hasn’t been updated in a while, but so what? Neither have our wardrobes.

Dad’s Birthday. Breakfast. 26 June 2011.
I can cook too you know! I decided to try Nigella’s recipe called ‘Hangover Remedy Eggs’, for dad’s birthday morning. Not that either of us needed a hangover cure, but it sounded amazing. Go make it yourselves.
Find the recipe here.

A weekend in Vidyanagar. Dinner. 6 June 2011.

My aunt cooks up some of the best food from around the world. And now she’s training my little cousin sister Sanjana, who is genetically gifted in the culinary arts. On one of my visits to Vidyanagar (a small town about an hour from Baroda) to meet my grandmother, who spends time between here and there, Sanjana prepared a mouth-watering batch of some of the best Hot Buffalo Wings i’ve ever eaten in my life.

The Living Room (TLR). Dinner. 1 April, 2011.
@keshav_naidu had a stand-up gig at TLR on Friday night. An amazing night spent with fellow W+Kers. Lamb chops were in the pipeline! TLR is at Haus Khas village, New Delhi. Also a big shout goes out to Antoine Redon and his WWYYZZZRRDDZ. They played amazing live music!

Andhra Bhawan. Lunch, 4 April, 2011
The Andhra Bhavan (house) canteen on Askhok road, central Delhi is a hub of Andhra food in the capital. A sleep-inducing combination of rice, gunpowder (dry garlic and lentil powder) & ghee (clarified butter), plus the unlimited vegetarian thali (metal plate with multiple bowls for an assortment of curries), for a reasonable Rs. 90 excluding delicious accompaniments such as fried fish/chicken/mutton does the trick. Always.

Since moving to Delhi, I have eaten some of the best food of my life. From the exuberant street vendors of Nizamuddin to the opulence of the more upscale eateries. My meals have come to become my most precious me-time. This is a small tribute to the stuff that keeps me going everyday.
